What are area and skill tags

Last update: 18 February 2025

Areas (countries - regions) and Skills (professions - expertise) are central to the functionality of Pronety.

Area and skill tags can be associated with account profiles, articles and questions.

Areas

In its simplest form an area refers to a physical location (country and region), so area tags can be:

United Kingdom
Greater London

United Kingdom
Manchester

United Kingdom
Birmingham

Regions
Are the administrative territorial divisions in which a country is divided. Countries have several levels of administrative divisions which, depending on their system, may be referred to as boroughs, counties, federated states, provinces, oblasts, cantons, departments, and more.

Area tags viewed in a professional or business profile generally refer to the locations where services are being offered.

Area tags viewed under an article or question refer to the locations that the article or question covers, for example an article with content relating to all of the United Kingdom should have designated areas:

United Kingdom
ALL-United Kingdom

ALL-United Kingdom is the region part of the area which means the article covers all of the United Kingdom and not just some regions in the United Kingdom.

Primary address
Is the area where a professional or business are normally located. An address can be designated as the primary address in the Profile page.

To maintain consistency of areas and to facilitate improved searchability and categorisation, we pre-specified regions for each country. You may select regions only from the pre-specified list. In case you cannot find a region please contact our support team.

Skills

Skill is the knowledge and ability of doing something competently.
A skill is the type of work or activity that requires special training and knowledge.

Skill tags at Pronety are comprised of profession tags and their associated expertise tags.

We currently facilitate skills in the following professions:

1
Accounting
2
Advisory
3
Audit
4
Corporate
5
Finance - Business
6

9

Each profession is sub-divided into expertise, so for Accounting you can have expertise like costing, budgeting, financial reporting, for Taxation expertise like inheritance tax, corporate tax, tax planning and for Legal expertise like consumer protection, criminal defence, intellectual property.

So, a tax advisor with expertise on inheritance tax and corporate tax will have the following tags:
